HFC’s 9th Anniversary Celebration

The office of Hope for Children (HFC) was packed with kids, neighborhood residents, and foreign social workers on Saturday.  The Addis Ababa NGO was celebrating 9 years of work helping children impacted by the AIDS epidemic “to live with dignity and develop self-sufficiency and independence.” The celebrations consisted of photography exhibitions, traditional dances, short plays, and speeches by employees, board members, and beneficiaries of HFC.  I was there to support Sudden Flowers Productions by documenting their performances and exhibition.  The members of Sudden Flowers are among HFC’s most creative and motivated beneficiaries.  Saturday’s celebration left me brimming with pride to be involved with this awesome group of young Ethiopians.
